Consignment Sales

We are pleased to provide the Central Valley including Modesto, Tracy, Ripon, French Camp, Stockton, Escalon, and Lathrop with a consignment sales service to help you sell comics, Action Figures Diecast cars or other collectible items. A consignment sale allows an owner to conveniently sell collectibles they no longer want or have the space for. If you are downsizing, your tastes have changed or you need to recover an investment in a collectible item; you can sell it quickly and conveniently through consignment. How it works

In a consignment sale, we will display your collectibles in our shop. If the item sells you will receive the proceeds, less our commission. Your Collectibles will be on consignment in the shop for a limited period. After this period of time and your item(s) has not sold, you will then need to pick up your item(s).

General structure of a consignment sale.

Note: the complete terms are defined in the written consignment contract that will be agreed upon and signed when the collectible item(s) are brought in for consignment.

  • The typical commission for selling a collectible on consignment is 40%.

This may seem like a lot, but you need to consider the services we are providing on your behalf. We will display your collectible item and bring in a large number of interested buyers to see it. If you were selling the collectible yourself, would need to advertise it and potential customers would be coming to you home to view the item. This would not be a convenient (or safe) arrangement. We will close the sale and deal with credit card or other forms of payment with the buyer to insure you receive your compensation.

  • The price of the consigned item will be set by agreement of the seller and "Fantastic Collectibles".

With our experience in the market, we can insure you that you are not setting too high or too low of a price. Setting to low a price might cheat you out of the value you have accumulated in the item.  Setting too high of a price would minimize the likelihood of selling the item(s) in a timely manner.  We want to you to receive the most conceivable amount for your item and in a timely manner.

  • The typical consignment contract period is 60 days. After 30 days and the item(s) still haven’t sold, we may suggest that you consider lowering your price.

At the end of the consignment contract the piece(s) must be picked up. Most consignment customers want a speedy resolution of the item(s) consigned. This period ensures that the item is on display long enough to maximize its selling potential without incurring any additional charges to the owner, such as space rent.

  • The Collectible item to be consigned must be clean and ready to sell.

We do not do repairs. If the item(s) need work, it will be sold as an “AS IS” item and priced accordingly to its condition. We have an understanding of the expectations of our customers, most of them want to take an item home and start enjoying it. A much smaller set of customers will buy an item with “issues” and have the item restored. These customers expect a greatly reduced price to compensate for the needed additional work that they will have to do. We can advise you if having the repairs done would benefit you in the long run. In all cases of repairs, they are the responsibility of the item’s owner.

  • “Fantastic Collectibles” is not responsible for any damage, loss or theft of the consigned item.
